Subscapularis Stretch
Subscapularis
The Subscapularis is the most anterior muscle that forms part of the rotator cuff group.
Option 1 ~ ‘Downward Dog’ yoga pose.
Option 2 ~ Either standing or kneeling for the stretch. Anchor your hands onto a horizontal surface or vertical pole, with arms straight out in front, bend forwards at the hip, taking your head, neck and torso in a direction below your shoulders whilst keeping your shoulders externally rotated.
Anatomy
Origin ~
- Subscapula fossa of the scapula.
Insertion ~
- Lesser tubercle of the humerus.
Actions ~
- Medial rotation of the shoulder and stabilization of the glenohumeral joint.
